Digital skills and higher education teaching: what are we talking about?

The evaluation and development of digital competencies have prompted several studies in the fields of education and technology. Through a systematic review of the literature, this article provides an overview of the concept of digital competences and its main frameworks. The results reveal that several initiatives are currently being developed to improve digital mapping competences in different countries, but they are still in the early stage of implementation, based on findings that the majority of participating teachers possess basic-intermediate digital proficiency.
