Abstract

The search for knowledge, especially by oneself, grows every day. There are several models of courses offered to different audiences, including the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). This paper describes the creation and implementation of a MOOC course on Accessibility and Technology, developed at the Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo. The aim of the course was to qualify professionals for the development of accessible educational materials for Distance Education. The present study is a descriptive research. The results revealed that, in a period of 45 days, 899 people enrolled in the course, and 50.6% of them completed the course and performed the evaluation. The data obtained in this evaluation indicate that the majority of them are teachers who seek knowledge to produce accessible materials. A total of 99.6% rated the course positively, highlighting the quality of the material – easy understanding and adequate approach. It is concluded that there is a great demand for qualification in this area and that a MOOC course can fulfill it.
